Project dldl/ድልድል is pleased to share the 4th episode of our new podcast series that explores domestic violence in Ethiopia. You can visit our Soundcloud page to Listennow.
This episode is entitled ‘The role of religious teaching in counselling married couples and responding to mental health issues in Ethiopia.’ Our guest speaker is Kesis (Priest) Yigzaw Mekonnen. He is the founder and director of Fnot. He holds his first degree in theology and his Masters in psychology.
Fnot (meaning ‘way’) is a social and psychological counselling charitable organisation. It was established with the aim of responding to social and psychological challenges for people in need. In this episode, Kesis Yigzaw helps us to understand the importance and the effect of using religious teaching in psychological treatment. He also talks to us about his counselling experience combining religious teaching and modern psychological techniques, his most frequent clients and the most common issues he is faced with in therapy.
We would like to thank Ms Etsegenet Hailemekeal for hosting the series and Kesis Yigzaw Mekonnen for speaking with us on on behalf of the organisation.
For the purposes of accessibility, we aim to alternate between English and Amharic in each episode.
Please do follow us on Soundcloud to stay informed about upcoming episodes.
