Project dldl/ድልድል is proud to share the 1st episode of our new podcast series on domestic violence in Ethiopia. You can visit our soundcloud page to Listen now.
This episode is entitled ‘Understanding domestic violence in Ethiopia and how best to respond.’ Our guest speaker is Mr Wendmneh Lemma, who serves as Project Coordinator at the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA). EWLA is a well-established legal aid service that assists women, particularly disadvantaged women, who are victims of gender-based violence.
In this episode, Mr Wendmneh Lemma helps us to define domestic violence, understand the silence around domestic violence in Ethiopia and outlines the services that EWLA provides to victims of domestic violence.
We would like to thank Ms Etsegenet Hailemekeal for hosting the series and Mr Wendmneh Lemma for speaking with us on behalf of the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association. We also want to thank Mr Wendmneh for taking the time to do the interview and for accepting to be one of he first guests on our new podcast series. We believe that our listeners will learn a lot from this episode.
For the purposes of accessibility, we aim to alternate between English and Amharic in each episode (although note that this episode is primarily conducted in Amharic)
