Project dldl/ድልድል is pleased to share the 2nd episode of our new podcast series that explores domestic violence in Ethiopia. You can visit our Soundcloud page to Listen now.

This episode is entitled ‘The Role of Faith and Religious Actors in Addressing Domestic Violence.’ Our guest speaker is Mr Bantamalake Gelaw, acting Head of Health & Social affairs at the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Development & Inter-Church Aid Commission (EOC DICAC). EOC DICAC was established as a development wing of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church with the objective of enhancing the development efforts of the country by tackling the root causes of poverty, migration, climate change and public health illiteracy problems.

In this episode, Mr Bantamlake is sharing with us the various ways the commission works to address domestic violence, the impact of collaborating with the government and other entities and potential challenges that we might encounter while working with secular and faith-based institutions.

We would like to thank Ms Etsegenet Hailemekeal for hosting the series and Mr Bantamlake Gelaw for speaking with us on behalf of EOC DICAC. We also want to thank Mr Bantamlake for taking the time from a very busy schedule to record this episode. We believe that our listeners will find this episode very educational.

For the purposes of accessibility, we aim to alternate between English and Amharic in each episode (although note that this episode is primarily conducted in Amharic)

Please do follow us on Soundcloud to stay informed about upcoming episodes.
